ABSTRACT
This work aims to show the presence of Vibrio cholerae in water samples collected from various sources in the municipalities of Queretaro, Mexico. By using secondary sources of information from epidemiological surveillance for detection of V. cholerae, a transversal descriptive study of the water samples results processed at The Public
Health State Laboratory that were collected during 2013. 314 water samples were collected from various municipalities. In 88 samples (28%), was found V. cholerae serogroup NO: 01. This bacillus was found in 59 black water samples (67%), 25 white water samples (28, 4%), 3 treated water samples (3,4%) and one sample which source was not mentioned, respectively. The risk from consuming and using superficial water is highlighted. This is a potential reservoir of V. cholerae, highlighting the need to amplify water monitoring, early detection of population health indicators and health education.

Key Words: Risk Management, Vibrio cholerae no-01, environment, water quality, public health.
